Studying Other Works

When thinking of what I love and what I'm interested in, it always brings me towards the Internet and books. Research allows artists to see what other artists are working on to decipher what is and isn't working in the gallery space and beyond. This weekend as I traveled to Minnesota I couldn't help but stop into a ceramic show in Northfield, home of St. Olaf College. There I found inspiration in the works of Monica Rudquist and Joe Duffy. From vast museums like the Metropolitan, to small galleries like the one I found just south of Minneapolis, one can find fascinating works. Also, seeing others making and showing their work always gets me excited to come home and do some work of my own.
